Powerlifting Coaches,

Congratulations are in order for any school who has qualified a lifter or lifters to compete in the THSPA State Championships on Saturday, March 27th, 2004 at The University of Houston.  The THSPA Executive Committee met on March 14th, 2004 in Houston to finalize details and provide for the most organized and competitive powerlifting meet of the 2004 season.  The following will be of interest to you as you plan your trip to Houston:

1.      Competition will be held in Hofheinz Pavilion at the University of Houston in Houston, Texas.

2.      Schedule of Events:

Friday, March 26 4:00 - 6:30 p.m.           Registration/Packet pickup

                                          5:00 - 6:30 p.m.           Early Weigh-in

Saturday, March 27         6:30 - 8:00 a.m.            Weigh-in

Please note the scheduling of two weigh-in times.  Lifters may weigh-in at either scheduled weigh-in.  In the event that a lifter does not make weight at the Friday weigh-in, he will have an additional opportunity to weigh-in Saturday morning.  Once a lifter has made his weight class, his expediter card will be taken from him, and no further weighing will be necessary, nor will any changing of opening lifts be allowed.

3.      Entry Fee:  Entry Fee for the State Championship is $20.00 per lifter, to be paid at the time of registration.  Checks should be made out to THSPA.

4.      Paperwork:  In addition to the entry fee, three items of paperwork will be requested at the time of registration.  These items are Eligibility form, State Meet Release Form, and Drug Testing Affidavit.  All three of these items can be found at our website, www.thspa.org .

5.      Let me remind you that there will be no-shows and ineligible lifters who may not be reported prior to the weigh-ins, so if you have a lifter who finished 3rd or 4th in Regional Competition, I would encourage you to bring him.  Include him on your eligibility form and have adequate entry fee money.  Remember that you may only replace athletes from your region.  Also, if you have a qualified lifter who will be unable to compete, please notify me immediately.

6.      I would encourage each of you to be present at the THSPA Coaches Meeting no Saturday morning, March 27th.
