REGION 5 DIVISION 1

Regional Meet Information

March 8th

The Region V Division I Championships has been changed to the JK Coliseum in Kingsville on March 8, 2008.  I am sorry for the late notice but we felt it would be beneficial for the athletes to compete in that type of environment again this year.  The site did not come available until recently.  All results from Feb. 23rd meets must be turned in by midnight on the 23rd or they will not be accepted, no exceptions and all judges must be certified.  If you are having trouble faxing (361-777-4272 or 361-777-4273) the information you can email it to me at rouellette@g-pisd.org or mouellette@grandecom.net.

The meet will consist of all three divisions and 11 platforms.  This will give a state meet atmosphere to those who qualify and give a great experience for those who do not.  Division I will lift on four platforms.  If anyone has an extra athlete (ex-lifter) that is not participating and would like to help with tables or loading, please let me know.  The following is information to have in mind for the Regional Meet.

  1. Any school that did not pay their dues by Feb. 4th will have to pay a $200.00 fine or their lifters will be disqualified from lifting in the Regional Meet.
  2. Declaration of weight class:  Coaches of any lifter who qualifies in more than one weight class must declare to the Regional Director which class the lifter will compete in at the Regional Meet.  Due to the limited time between the last qualifying date and the Regional Meet, I need to be notified by Monday Feb. 25th before 4:00 p.m. of the weight class in which he intends to compete.
  3. If you have a lifter that cannot compete for any reason, please contact me ASAP so that the next athlete can be bumped up.  If your lifter is sitting in 11-15th place, I would advise you to bring them to compete just in case there is a no-show or another athlete does not make weight.  If you do bring an 11-15th place lifter, make sure to bring a separate check or cash for the alternates.  There will be absolutely no refunds if the check is made out for over the amount.  We will weigh in the top 13 lifters in each class so those athletes can eat the night before.  On Tuesday Feb. 26th after 4:00 p.m. you will be responsible for the entry fee of your lifters whether they compete or not.
  4.  Check your lifters names and totals to make sure they are correct.  If there are any mistakes please contact me as soon as possible.
  5. Things to bring:
    1. Entry fee $25.00 per lifter
    2. Make checks payable to Gregory-Portland Powerlifting
    3. Eligibility list, drug affidavit, and release form all can be found on the thspa.org website under forms and need to be completed and turned in when checking in.
    4. Scholarship applications (also found on the website)
  1. All lifters must compete in proper uniform.  If there are any questions the Rulebook is posted on the website.
