Region 1, Division 2&3 Regional Powerlifting Championships Levelland High School March 8, 2008 Region 1 Coaches, The 2008 powerlifting season is quickly coming to an end as the regional and state meets are fast approaching. I sincerely hope that everyone has had a great season and is looking forward to the powerlifting “playoffs.” I appreciate everyone’s patience and help this year and I want each of you to know what a pleasure it has been to serve as your regional director. I believe without a doubt we have the hardest working and most professional coaches anywhere. Dues- Please check the website to confirm your schools membership. Totals- Check to see if your lifters totals are correct and please make sure all schools and lifters names are correct. If there are any errors please let me know as this is how the names will appear at the regional and state meets. Last Qualifying Date- February 23, 2008. Remember that meets on this date must consist of at least 5 boys teams with at least 7 competitors per team. Also, all judges must be certified. I must have all results by 12:00 midnight on the 23th. I will NOT accept any results after this time. If you attend a meet outside this region I would suggest you fax me your copy to make certain that I get these on time. Weight Class Declaration- If you have a lifter who qualifies in more than one weight class, you must let me know which class he intends to compete in at the regional meet by 4:00 on Monday, February 25th. If I do not hear from at this time, your lifter will be placed in the heavier weight class. Also, if you have a lifter who has qualified to compete at the regional meet but will be unable to attend, please notify me of that by 4:00 as well. The best way to reach me on this day will be via email. Schools who fail to remove a lifter will still be responsible for the $25 entry fee. Regional Meet- March 8, 2008 at Levelland High School, in the high school gym. Entry fee is $25 per lifter. Make checks payable to: Levelland Powerlifting. Lifters in places 11 thru 15 will be allowed to lift at regionals but not for places or points. If you have a lifter in this position who does not intend to lift please let me know so the next lifter can move up. You need to bring these items with you when you check in: eligibility forms and entry fee money. This is for all lifters including any alternates. Scholarship Applications are due at the regional meet as well. Meet Schedule: Friday: Early weigh-in: 4:00 – 5:30 pm. (In high school gym) Saturday: Weigh-in: 6:00-7:30 am Judges Meeting: 7:30 am Coaches Meeting: 8:00 am Lifting Begins: 8:30 am Order of events: Squat Bench (DIV 2) Lunch Bench (DIV 3) Deadlift Awards T-shirts will be on sale Friday and Saturday for $10. A full concession stand will be available for both lifters and spectators. You will be allowed to charge if you need to. I ask that you please feed your lifters at the concession stand to help support this huge event. Admission: Adults - $5.00 Children 12 and under $3.00 Programs: $1.00 Directions to the high school: The physical address is 1400 Hickory. Coming from Lubbock take Hwy 114 into Levelland. Turn left at the first light, the high school is about one mile on your right. From Hwy 385, get on Hwy 114 and head east until you reach the last light which will be Alamo Road. Turn right and again the school will be on the right hand side. Enter the doors on the north side. State Meet – March 28-29, 2008. Taylor County Expo Center, Abilene, TX.
